Meet The Member 〰️

Our newest “Meet the Member” is Burley Johnson, from Natchitoches, LA. Burley and Vic McClain were the driving forces for ALTO’s September event (Flies and Pies). We are most appreciative to both of them for spearheading this event!

"“I was born in Ville Platte, LA. My parents moved to Pineville, where I graduated from Pineville High School. I attended NSU in Natchitoches, LA. I have a BS in Physical Education and Masters of Education in Administration from NSU. I have taught and coached in the Natchitoches Parish School system for 35 years.

I have always loved to fish. Over 30 years ago, my daughter gave me a fly rod for Christmas. I was hooked!! Fly fishing is my passion. I fish in Sibley Lake and Cane River for crappie and bass. The spring is the best time to catch crappie on the fly. I catch bass on popping bugs. In addition to the local waters. I have fly fished in numerous states. I enjoy catching trout and salt water fish using the fly.

I have been building popping bugs for over 25 years. I throroughly enjoy making popping bugs and flies. Some I use to fish with and others I display.”
